Stuck on "Checking Data Encoding Fees"

This error commonly happens despite what desktop version you are using.

This error usually has to do with not being able to ping data to recieve fee estimations and is usually fixed by first checking your connection to the internet and then checking your server settings and following the steps below. The most common fix is to: - Just wait a minute or two for the wallet to load - Restart Freewallet and try again - Toggle any VPN you might have running off or on and try again - Restart your computer With version 0.9.31 the server settings can simply be "Reset to Default" and it is recommended to use these settings below. You can always review the two most common and recommended setting in the How do I check my Freewallet Server settings? section.

For 0.9.31 you can always Reset to Defaults, but if done manually, make sure the Testnet Settings are also identical to those above. If you are still having the issues, refer to the steps below.

Using previous versions (0.9.30 and earlier), you will have to manually take these steps above to change your server settings to remove this "Checking Data Encoding Fees" issue. As mentioned in the How do I check my Freewallet Server settings? section, you can choose instead to connect to the Official Counterparty API instead of xchain servers. To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. Make sure your settings are the same as shown below and try again

  1. Restart the Freewallet program and try again

  2. Toggle any VPN you might have running off or on and try again

  3. Restart your computer and try again

If none of these steps helped your issue, feel free to report your process and issue on the Freewallet Desktop Issues page or in the Freewallet Telegram
