# Error composing dividend transaction via API: \['zero dividend']

If you see this error in Freewallet, it usually denotes a specific situation when using the Dividend function.

The error shows as this popup:

<figure><img src="/files/zcokI2GxVB0tqFsy19w1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

This <mark style="color:yellow;">indicates that no users will be paid dividends using this transaction</mark>, so the Counterparty protocol does not let you generate the transaction (and in this situation, Freewallet as well).

* This error can have something to do with a protocol issue regarding [an asset that was previously reset](https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-core/issues/1243) (when using the very specific [Reset Feature](/freewallet.io-user-manual/freewallet-functions/resetting-your-token-issuance.md)) and should be fixed in an upcoming Counterparty release.
* It has also been reported <mark style="color:yellow;">when trying to send an asset which is divisible</mark> (less than 1 total supply).
* The <mark style="color:yellow;">work-around for this error would be to use a MPMA (Multisend) to distribute your dividends</mark> instead of [using the dividend function](/freewallet.io-user-manual/freewallet-functions/paying-dividends-to-token-holders.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://davestaxcp.gitbook.io/freewallet.io-user-manual/troubleshooting-issues/error-composing-dividend-transaction-via-api-zero-dividend.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
